If viruses were sentient
Would they split atoms, split continents
Split nuclear family values
Like so much emotional chaff
As they taught extinct species to laugh
Would they become alt rock proto-punks
Third party candidates
Eden’s greens keepers with a grudge
And mercifully sedate
Their hosts before the end?
I’d rather believe
The big bang was
Merely
The big decay
And
Protoplasmic entities
Have become the modern
Robber barons
We fondly call mankind
But enough about me
How’s the delusion business?
